Application for an Aadhaar Card by an NRI
NRIs with a valid Indian Passport can apply for an Aadhaar Card.
International numbers are not supported, so the NRI needs to obtain an Indian number.
The period of 182 days stay in India for an NRI before getting an Aadhaar Card has been waived off.
A visit is to be made to any Aadhaar Kendra.
A valid Indian Passport and a valid e-mail ID is a must.
The enrolment form is to be filed with all the details. The declarations for an NRI are different, please read carefully and fill in the form.
Passport is used as a proof of identity and can also be used as Date of Birth and Address Proof.
Any other valid documents mentioned on the UIDAI website can also be used as Date of Birth and Address Proof.
This is followed by the biometric capture.
Post this, all the details on the screen should be thoroughly checked by you before the operator submits them.
After finishing all the above steps, collect the acknowledgement slip/ enrolment slip that has your 14 digit Enrolment ID and Date & Time Stamp. You can check status of your Aadhaar from:Β https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
Enrolment of a Spouse on the basis of Aadhaar and Passport of their partner
There are two cases:
If the spouse is an NRI then a valid Passport is necessary as proof of identity.
If the spouse is an Indian resident then any valid Proof of Relationship Document mentioned on the UIDAI website including your passport (having the name of your spouse) can be used for enrolment as Head of Family (HoF).
If a passport has the name of your spouse it can be used by them as a proof of Address.
Enrolment of Children
If the child is between 0-5 years of age:
If the minor is an NRI then a valid Passport is necessary as proof of identity.
If the minor is an Indian resident then any valid Proof of Relationship Document mentioned on the UIDAI website such as Birth Certificate along with the Aadhaar of Parent/Guardian can be used for enrolment.
If the child is between 5-18 years of age:
If the minor is an NRI then a valid Passport is necessary as proof of identity.
If the minor is an Indian resident and has:
No document in the name of the minor: Any valid Proof of Relationship Document mentioned on the UIDAI website such as birth certificate can be used for enrolment as Head of Family (HoF).
Minor has a document: Any valid Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) document mentioned on the UIDAI website like a school ID card in the childβs name can be used for enrolment.
